Children’s entertainment players the Wiggles and Sinking Ship Entertainment have joined forces to develop an animated series based on the Wiggles brand.

The Wiggles are an Australian music group formed in 1991 when founder Anthony Field had the idea to make a children’s album. The original lineup was Field, Murray Cook, Greg Page, Jeff Fatt and Phillip Wilcher. The current lineup includes Field alongside Tsehay Hawkins, Lachy Gillespie, Simon Pryce, Evie Ferris, John Pearce, Caterina Mete and Lucia Field.

The Wiggles have become a major force on the preschool entertainment scene, generating over two billion music streams and three billion views on YouTube. The band has sold over 30 million albums and DVDs, and 8 million books.

Luke O’Neill, CEO of the Wiggles, said, “For quite some time, the Wiggles have been eager to explore new avenues for expressing our brand through an animated series. We are thrilled to partner with Sinking Ship, a company that shares our vision and will help us expand the brand’s creative reach.”

Carla de Jong, head of co-production at Sinking Ship, added, “What has always impressed us about the Wiggles is not only their deep understanding of the audience but how they have consistently evolved to meet their needs. Moving into animation opens up new creative possibilities that will allow us to connect with preschoolers and families in unique ways. It’s the natural next step in the evolution of the brand.”

The Wiggles content can be found on the Wiggles App and on various streaming platforms, including Peacock, Happy Kids, the Roku Channel, Sensical, Ketchup TV, KidStream, Prime Video and Kidoodle TV.

Recent developments include the YouTube channel, entry into the adult techno space with “The Wiggles Sound System: Rave of Innocence” music videos and album, parenting podcast “Wiggle Talk,” and collaborations with other children’s brands such as Blippi, the Harlem Globetrotters and Miss Rachel. Next summer sees the kick-off of their international Bouncing Balls tour.
