The thriller arrives on Feb. 14 via Apple TV+

Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller star as elite snipers guarding a mysterious fog-filled gorge described as the “door to hell” in a new trailer for Apple Original Films’ The Gorge.

Coinciding with its Feb. 14 release date via Apple TV+ the trailer also hints at a budding love story between the main characters. In the clip, Drasa (Taylor-Joy) and Levi (Teller) are assigned to guard opposite sides of a mysterious gorge that is described by a colleague as “the door to hell.”

They’re also told that at their respective remote locales, where each is stationed at a separate tower, that no outside communication can be made and that “contact with the other side is strictly forbidden.” Despite the dire warnings, the duo begin to communicate from across the vast space between them, sharing handwritten signs and they even play chess from across the divide. But after a mishap and with the unseen evil lurking in the depths below, the budding romance morphs into a rescue mission when Levi falls into the gorge and Drasa dives in to the abyss to try and save him.

The Scott Derrickson-directed and Zach Dean-written The Gorge also stars Sigourney Weaver, who also appears in the new trailer.

Over the summer, it was announced that Teller has been tapped for a remake of the 1982 film, An Officer and a Gentleman and he’s also set to star in upcoming film Eternity with Elizabeth Olsen. Meanwhile, Taylor-Joy, whose Furiosa —  the prequel to 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road — arrived in May, is set to star in and executive produce the limited series Lucky, based on Marissa Stapley’s novel of the same name, according to Variety.
