After more than a year of dating, singer, actress and entrepreneur Selena Gomez and producer-songwriter Benny Blanco are engaged.

Gomez shared the news on Instagram on Wednesday, along with the caption, “forever begins now..” The post included photos of the diamond ring, Gomez admiring it during a picnic, and the happy couple celebrating the moment. In the comments section, Blanco, forever cheeky, wrote: “Hey wait… that’s my wife.”

The couple worked together on Gomez’s 2015 hit song “Same Old Love” and “I Can’t Get Enough” (which also featured Tainy and J Balvin) in 2019, before confirming their relationship in December 2023 and Gomez noting in a since-deleted comment that they had been dating for six months prior.

Earlier on Wednesday, Gomez spoke with Saoirse Ronan for Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series and said, “I’m genuinely so happy to just be in this new era of my life because, in a lot of ways, it’s just the beginning.”

While Gomez said she doesn’t see music as “a forever thing” and might be getting “a little too old for the pop star life,” the Rare Beauty mogul went on to say she’ll “always have music in my life,” in part because Blanco is a musician. “And I love having moments to do it for fun,” she added. “It can be a little vulnerable when you’re putting yourself out there versus escaping into a character.”

In February, when speaking to Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe, Gomez said, “I think it’s just really important to meet someone that respects you,” and said of her relationship with Blanco: “I’d have to say, overall, it’s the safest that I feel and it’s been really lovely and I’ve only grown through it, so it’s awesome.”

When appearing on The Howard Stern Show in May, in response to Blanco’s impressive first-Valentine’s surprise to his now-fiancée, Stern commented, “You are some boyfriend, you’re knocking it out the park. I see love here, I’m predicting marriage.”

“You and me both,” quipped Blanco.

“You got a ring?” asked the host.

“I don’t have anything. I got no shoes on!” said Blanco, who added: “I gotta get my act together.”
