The Last of Us is returning in April, with a specific premiere date to be announced at a later date.

Co-creator, writer and executive producer Neil Druckmann announced the news during Sony’s press conference at CES on Monday. The season will consist of seven episodes.

Season two continues the story of apocalypse survivors Joel (Pedro Pascal), Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Joel’s brother Tommy (Gabriel Luna), and will introduce several new cast members, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, who is the focus of the new teaser trailer also released on Monday.

The 30-second look (below) contains some of the previously released footage from the first trailer that was released in 2023, which introduced guest star Catherine O’Hara in scenes with Pascal’s Joel, along with new castmembers Jeffrey Wright and Isabela Merced, in a tense and ominous preview of what’s to come following the finale of season one.

Here’s the season two logline: “Five years after the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.”

The season two cast also includes returning star Rutina Wesley as Maria, along with new cast members Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen and Danny Ramirez as Manny.

The Last of Us is based on the acclaimed video game franchise and is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Druckmann. The series is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television. Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan and Evan Wells; writer/co-executive producer Halley Gross also executive produce.
