Singer previously lost her Malibu home in the Woolsey fire in 2018: “Time, resources and dedication from inside and outside of our community will heal us, but it hurts deeply for now”

Miley Cyrus, whose home in Malibu burned down in a wildfire in 2018, wrote that her “soul aches” for those impacted by the blazes currently sprawling the Los Angeles area.

On Instagram Cyrus re-posted an image of the charred remains of her Malibu house, which burned down in the Woolsey Fire, which also claimed the homes belonging to Neil Young, Robin Thicke, and Gerard Butler.

“This image hits me hard in the heart today,” she wrote on her Miley Cyrus Foundation Instagram. “This is a photo taken of my front porch in 2018 after losing our house in the Woolsey fires. It’s a feeling you don’t ever forget. Walking up to the door you would pass through daily, looking forward to being greeted by the ones you love like you always do but instead being met by a pile of ash and rubble.”

The singer continued, “My soul aches for those who are experiencing this devastation firsthand and I cry for my city. It’s beyond heartbreaking. Los Angeles represents ‘living the dream’ but the reality today is wreckage and destruction.”

Following the 2018 Woolsey fire, Cyrus donated $500,000 to the then-newly launched Malibu Foundation, which would then use that to assist those in financial need, while also providing relief assistance and contributing to rebuilding efforts, wildfire prevention and climate change initiatives.

With the current wave of wildfires, Cyrus said she is “personally supporting” organizations (including the Malibu Foundation) that are “helping fight the fire and support survivors.” “Time, resources and dedication from inside and outside of our community will heal us, but it hurts deeply for now……,” she wrote.
