Kate Middleton “Relieved” to Be in Remission After Battling Cancer

Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, is now in remission after being diagnosed with cancer last year.

Following a media frenzy about the royal family member’s whereabouts from December 2023 until March 2024, Middleton finally took to hers and William’s social media accounts to share that she had been undergoing chemotherapy.

After tentatively returning to a couple of royal engagements in the last few months, including the royal family’s Christmas outing at Sandringham, Middleton said on Instagram Tuesday that she is now in remission.

“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery,” Middleton wrote alongside a photo of her talking to a chemotherapy patient. “As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”

The 43-year-old, mother to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, began the post by saying, “I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to [hospital] The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year. My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything. We couldn’t have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.

“In my new role as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden, my hope is, that by supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer,” she also said.

King Charles has also been undergoing treatment for cancer, Buckingham Palace confirmed in February of last year. In April, he resumed his royal duties.
