Cigarettes are back. It’s nothing to celebrate, per se, but it’s true. Charli XCX‘s birthday bouquet of cigarettes from Rosalia went viral. New York Fashion Week saw models smoking on the runway. Oscar-winner Anora — along with eight of the other 10 Best Picture nominees — featured smoking, and viewers were there for it (that double cig scene in Anora).
Now, there’s a whiskey designed to be paired with cigarettes. “Darts,” the latest release from Dallas-based label Lasso Motel Whiskey, features a unique blend that was crafted with smoking in mind. Think of it as the dive bar version of a cigar blend bourbon. You can buy Lasso Motel’s Darts online now at Seelbach’s for $69.99.
Lasso Motel Whiskey Darts Cigarette Blend
“With so many cigar blends out there, I felt like it was time for a cigarette blend — something more true to the Lasso Motel brand,” says founder Devin Odell. “Cigarettes have their own kind of edge — timeless, gritty, unapologetic. Darts lives in that world. It’s made for the ones who feel at home in a dive bar.”
Finished in Armagnac, sherry, and Cognac casks, Darts’ palate features rich leather, toffee, light vanilla, and dried apricot to complement cheap tobacco. The finish is nice and long, and it’s got some kick at 100 proof (even if all those cigarettes have fried your taste buds). “It’s a bourbon that sticks with you — and it’s going to be my go-to for a long time. Late nights, bourbon, and cigarettes — that’s Darts,” says Odell.
The main inspiration behind Lasso Motel Whiskey is the “raw, rock-and-roll nostalgia” of the Belmont Hotel, a now-closed Dallas landmark. The brand has a range of expressions, all defined by globally sourced cask finishes. Pick up the new Darts release here.
