Leslie Odom Jr. to Return to ‘Hamilton’ on Broadway This Fall

Leslie Odom Jr. will return to star in Hamilton this fall as Aaron Burr. 

Odom, who originated the role Off-Broadway and later won a Tony Award for his portrayal, will return to the show starting Sept. 9, through Nov. 23 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. His return marks nine years since he left the show in July 2016. 

Odom’s return to Hamilton comes as the production prepares for its 10th anniversary on Broadway, on Aug. 6, 2025.

“Returning to Hamilton is a deeply meaningful homecoming,” Odom said. “I’m so grateful for the chance to step back into the room — especially during this anniversary moment — and to revisit this brilliant piece that forever changed my life and the lives of so many.”

“When I saw Leslie perform ‘The Room Where It Happens’ at the first act two workshop of Hamilton, I knew I was witnessing a historic moment. How lucky we are that Leslie is returning to Hamilton and bringing his indelible Burr back to Broadway,” said Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller.

Odom returned to Broadway last season as a producer and star of Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch. The show was nominated for six Tony Awards, including one for Odom. 

Since starring in Hamilton, opposite Lin-Manuel Miranda, Odom has received two Academy Award nominations for One Night in Miami for his portrayal of Sam Cooke and for best original song. He has also appeared in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, The Many Saints of Newark, Harriet as well as on television in Central Park, Abbott Elementary and The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.

 He has released five studio albums, including 2023’s When a Crooner Dies.
