Betty White to Be Honored With USPS Postage Stamp
The United States Postal Service is honoring Betty White with her own stamp.
USPS announced White’s Forever stamp on Friday as part of its new slate of stamps for 2025.
“An icon of American television, Betty White (1922–2021) shared her wit and warmth with viewers for seven decades,” USPS said in announcing the stamp. “The comedic actor, who gained younger generations of fans as she entered her 90s, was also revered as a compassionate advocate for animals.”
White died at the age of 99 on Dec. 31, 2021, less than three weeks before her 100th birthday. The Emmy-winning actor was known for her roles as Rose Nylund in “The Golden Girls,” Sue-Ann Nivens in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and Elka Ostrosky in “Hot in Cleveland.”
White’s stamp features a digital illustration of the beloved actor based on a 2010 photograph by Kwaku Alston. Dale Stephanos created the digital illustration, while USPS art director Greg Breeding designed White’s Forever stamp.
In addition to White’s stamp, USPS unveiled a stamp honoring the late musician and songwriter Allen Toussaint for its Black Heritage collection. Other 2025 stamps include a snake for its Lunar New Year series, the Appalachian Trail, a 1794 compass rose and more.
“This early glimpse into our 2025 stamp program demonstrates our commitment to providing a diverse range of subjects and designs for both philatelists and stamp enthusiasts,” Lisa Bobb-Semple, stamp services director for USPS, said in a statement. “This year, we are continuing several of our popular series and commemorative anniversaries, while introducing some exciting new stamps. Additionally, several of our mail-use stamps, which are printed based on demand, will be updated this year. Stay tuned for more announcements in the coming months.”
