The ‘Wicked’ Soundtrack Vinyl Is a No. 1 Bestseller Following Blockbuster Film Release

The Wicked soundtrack on vinyl, which released in tandem with the film on Nov. 22, is already a bestseller online.
The soundtrack is available in various formats including CD, double vinyl, double picture disc, and digital. Target and Barnes & Noble also offer exclusive editions including split pink and green vinyl, plus an alternative cover.
The soundtrack includes renditions of the musical’s notable songs, including “Popular” and “Defying Gravity,” as performed by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande who star as Elphaba and Glinda, respectively, in a tale that follows their unlikely friendship.

The film is based on Gregory Maguire’s novel that inspired the musical, which featured an original score from Stephen Schwartz. The cast also includes Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh as Shiz University headmaster Madame Morrible, Ethan Slater as Boq and Bowen Yang as Pfannee.
Universal’s highly anticipated musical adaptation has been a major box office hit, grossing $263 million domestically and $360 million after 10 days in theaters. Alongside “Gladiator II” and “Moana 2,” the film helped fuel the biggest Thanksgiving box office bounty on record.
The project will be a two-part phenomenon with the second installment coming Nov. 2025. Jon M. Chu, the filmmaker behind “In the Heights” and “Crazy Rich Asians,” is the director of both films.
